My Grandfather and the Tainan Canal

That same year, your father was born, and Emperor Showa ascended the throne. So many auspicious events happened together that your father was named ‘ Kun-Cheng ’—meaning ' achievement .' Your grandfather, seeing the street vendors along the canal exposed to the elements, built the Sakaliba market to provide them with shelter."
